We have a beautiful 5,000sqft raw space to develop and anticipate opening right after Labor Day. See our progress on our website www.KineticArtsCenter.com. Meanwhile we are still offering our classes and private lessons at Athletic Playground.

We need your help to get the word out and have a fantastic challenge for you to help us with! We have 193 fans on Facebook and we are trying to grow to 1,000 fans by the end of next week.

This week’s circus factoid – Break a leg!

This week’s circus factoid – Break a leg!

There are many understandings of the origin to the term “break a leg” The most common origin we found relates to a time when audiences threw money on stage (or rotten food) during the curtain call – the better the performance, the more money tossed to the actor. Actors would have to bend a knee (or break the leg-line) to pick up the tip. Therefore, if one wished someone to ‘break a leg’ they were wishing for a great performance and great tips. What meanings have you heard?

This week’s circus factoid – Cirque Nouveau

Cirque Nouveau / New Circus is a performing arts movement that developed in the 1970s, simultaneously in France, Australia the West Coast of the U.S. and the U.K . There are no animals used in this type of circus and influences are drawn as much from contemporary culture as from circus history.

This week’s circus factoid – The Leotard

The skin-tight one-piece garment, known as a leotard, was invented by the French acrobatic performer & trapeze artist, Jules Leotard. Designed to allow unrestricted movement & display musculature, this garment later made its way from the circus into the ballet studios of Paris.
