Inspired from seeing The Paper Doll Militia’s This Twisted Tale? Come and take a workshop with The Dolls at Kinetic Arts Center the week after our run of shows ends. This workshop will be four days jam-packed with exploring quality of movement while climbing, expression without gravity, and the freedom of upward momentum.
We will focus on aerial tissue and rope, as well as some of the Paper Doll’s custom built aerial apparatus, including a horizontal steel ladder and swinging lamppost. We will focus on sequencing of aerial skills, building strength and flexibility, as well as discovering your own unique style in the air. Emphasizing skill and choice, we will uncover the intentions behind your movement and the quality of each move not as a way to get to the next trick, but as a way to tell a piece of your emotional story.
This class is designed for the continuing aerialist. Students must be able to climb to the top of a fabric, straddle up in the air, and have taken at least some basic aerial classes in the past.
