July 9-July 22 Summer Circo Show is a fully-supported circus production directed by Jaron Hollander, Kinetic Arts Center’s Artistic Director with act development and coaching by some of our most popular coaches. Jaron Hollander has directed each of the Circus Spire Youth Troupe productions, most recently The Circus Differential. In addition, if your child is older, has previous performance experience and interested, they could be invited to participate on our production team. This group of cast members will help decide on production items like: theme, acts, show order, costumes, etc. Rehearsals for this summer’s show begin the first day of the two-week program.

HOT MOVES ARE A-FOOT: FOOT HOOPING WORKSHOP
with Marria & Revolva
Saturday, January 28, 4-6pm
On Jan. 28, veteran hoopers Marria and Revolva are joining forces at Oakland’s Kinetic Arts Center, under an important rallying cry: Feet are the new waists! These ladies have been foot hooping for years, on stages and in classrooms around the world. But they have never before *united* to share what they know. Come benefit from their combined experience – and discover what happens when you take your hoop downtown.
You’ll learn the following amazing “feats”:
• GETTING IT STARTED: Your foot is like your hand – only different!
• ALTERNATIVE ENTRANCES: How does the hoop get on there, anyway?
• FINDING YOUR FOOT FLOW: Transitioning between movements.
• ACROBATIC POSSIBILITIES: Cool upside down moves, beginner to advanced.
• PARTNER FOOT HOOPING: Learn to pass and do partner acro poses while foot hooping.
This video depicts some of what will be covered. (Filmed for fun, with British hoop guru Bags. On Jan. 28, you can learn the “how to” of some moves you see here.)

Whether you are a novice or a jedi master foot hooper, you are welcome – and you’ll emerge with new material. The only pre-requisite is knowing how to hoop on your hand. Just 15 spaces available, and discounts for early birds, so sign up today!

MARRIA has been going “ninja” on hoops, since 2005. A founding member of the Boston Hoop Troop, she also co-founded “Ninja Hoops,” with Zach Fisher (their popular “Acro Hooping” workshop toured the country in 2011). She was Boston’s first full-time hoop instructor, and she currently teaches Bay Area drop-ins and at national conferences. And that’s not to mention her stage-savvy, performing with the Vegetable Circus, with Ninja Hoops and in an upcoming duo with Sweet Can Circus’ Natasha Kaluza. Marria can do partner acro moves, while hooping on her foot, while wearing a banana costume. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ninja-Hoops/139616369469094
REVOLVA began hooping in 2002, and has since whirled her way around the world, as a solo act and with troupes and organizations such as The New Old Time Chautauqua Vaudeville Tour, Wanderlust Circus, Clowns Without Borders, Earth DescenDance Circus Theater and Circus Artemis: Portland Women’s Circus (which she co-founded in 2009). A lover of spectacle, she has been opening/support entertainment for Weird Al Yankovic, OK GO and Hot Buttered Rum, become the first and only hooper (and woman) to win Burning Man’s “Fire Idol” contest – and taught at national conferences and festivals. Revolva can hoop on her foot, while hooping on three other limbs, while wearing a wig. http://www.revolvahoopdance.com/
